First area solo completed

On Monday 18th August 2008 I successfully completed my first area solo. This included flying with no instructor or passengers from Essendon (YMEN) to the Point Cook (YMPC) training area. Upon reaching the training area, I did some Precautionary Flying which is conducted at 500ft above the ground and then some practice engine failure procedures from 2500ft. After an almost perfect landing back at Essendon, I cursed that my instructor wasn’t there to see how good the landing was!

All in all, I had a ton of fun, operated the aircraft safely, and was very happy with my performance while flying solo as Pilot In Command. Next up, Aircraft General Knowledge exam in two weeks!

Passed CPL Human Factors exam!

It’s been a good couple of weeks… Last week I passed my GFPT, this week I passed my first Commercial Pilot License (CPL) exam - Human Factors. I ended up getting 3 questions wrong, and a mark of 90% - far beyond the required 70%!

Next up, Aeroplane General Knowledge (AGK) exam :)

GFPT Passed!

It’s been a while coming, but yesterday I passed my GFPT! This is the first stage of my aviation training and allows me to fly as a pilot in command between our home base (YMEN) and our training area at Point Cook (YMPC).

The fun part is that I’m allowed to take passengers as well :)
